Finished watching Doogie last night, and love that she chose herself, but I had a dream where Nico decides to help Lahela's friend with the less fortunate, cooking so that they can have more fresh, hot food. He ends up burning himself when he gets distracted by her truck arriving and she has to help him tend to his wound. And naturally because she is dealing with his hand, they stop and hold them, and there's a moment. Like a 'is this is starting over now that we found more footing' kind of moment.

Lahela kamealoha x fem reader

Title: “IT WAS ALWAYS LOVE”

A/N: reader is a year older than lahela and also a teen doctor, lesbian and black. I didn't see any fanfiction, so I made my own. I hope you like it

You had been one of lahela's dearest friends when she first started working at the hospital. Along with Noelani and Charles, you guys always stuck together and had each others back. Always.

But it was hard for you now when Lahela, the day after finding Nico and having both him and Walter profess their love for her, comes to you asking for advice on what to do. Especially when you have been in love with her from the moment  you met her.

“What do I do?” Said Lahela, with a strong hint of hurt in her voice. She didn’t want to lose the relationships she had with Nico or Walter, but she loved them both and she had to choose. She looked into your eyes searching for an answer, or someway to help her. She was so lost and she didn’t know why, but she felt like only you could help her, Steph was busy with kai.

“Well” you said, taking a deep breath and gathering your thoughts. Lahela was your friend, and no matter your feeling towards her, you would help her, even if it meant seeing her with someone else. “l think it come down too, who do you see yourself with. Between Walter and Nico, problems aside, who would stand by you and continue to love you despite the circumstances. Change, growth, career or otherwise” you said with a small smile, trying to offer her some comfort as you spoke.

“Hmm” replied Lahela, thinking on your words. She furrowed her eyebrows as she thought, but ended up confused as she couldn’t really see it. With either of them. They both had issues with these things, things that made her, her. Walter had issues with change and couldn’t look passed himself being a pro surfer, and Nico had issues with the hospital and couldn’t look passed himself being a former cancer patient. They were wonderful, but she couldn’t imagine a future with them. Why?

Sensing something was wrong by the look on Lahela’s face as she was deep in thought, you gently reached out and held her hand, squeezing it softly. Something you always did to comfort her and vice versa. Seeing her head slowly shift towards you made you smile, her face showing clarity for the first time since she asked to talk to you in private at the hospital lunch break earlier that day.

Her eyes landed on yours and warmth flooded her body. The same warmth she felt whenever you would be around, the feeling that could and would calm her down for any stressful situation in the hospital enough for her to able to think clearly again. She always assumed it came from friendship and the community of having another young doctor around, but now, as she longingly stares into your chocolate brown eyes, she sees that she was wrong. It was love. It was always love.

You were the one she could envision her future with. You were the one who helped her with choosing her specialty, even if it meant she would leave. You were the one who helped her captain her first overnight shift, Calming her down and helping her out with as much as you could, even though you didn’t have too. And now, you were helping her choose which boy she should pick, when her chance at her specialty was gone because of them. And you where the only one who even offered to help.

She shifted closer to you, as her hands settled on The sides of your face. She spoke with adoration and contentment, her gaze never leaving yours.

“I’ve thought about it. Who I see myself with? And I’ve decided. Neither. Walter and Nico could never looked passed these parts of my Life to truly love me, which is why we eventually broke up. But you do, you always have. You’ve always been by my side, as a friend, respecting me as a fellow doctor and as a person who wants to evolve and know my own potential. And I can’t believe I didn’t realise how much I love you”. 

Breathless by the close proximity to you, she focused on your eyes as she leaned it, slowing her pace as to give you time to back out if you wanted it, although she hoped you didn’t.

Processing lahela’s words, you leaned in, capturing her lips in a kiss. Exhaling into it, you could feel lahela smiling as you kissed, holding her firmly. It made you smile too and rest your head against her, when you both pulled apart happily. You broke out in to chuckle as you still held lahela against you, rejoicing silently that your feelings where now longer one sided. And lahela could see that, as she pulled you into a another kiss, practically giddy.

Later that day, she would meet up with Walter and Nico and tell them she wasn’t choosing them, but hoped they could still be in her life, although that seemed highly unlikely. She would discuss with her mom another way of gaining approval for her specialty of mobile medicine. And she begin her future with you. She was definitely looking forward to it.
